Morris Clash

Morris Clash Nine Men’s Morris

Three in a row takes a stone.

Play people online for coins, in rooms from a village mill to a throne room, and challenge your friends to a duel.

Coming free to the App Store and Google Play.

Live in your browser: the game’s own table and rules, playing itself.

How a game goes

Nine stones each, twenty-four points

  1. 01

    Place

Take turns setting your stones on any empty point. Ivory goes first.

  2. 02

    Mill

Three of yours along one line is a mill, and a mill takes one of the other side’s stones: any that is not in a mill of its own, or any at all if every one is.

  3. 03

    Move

Once every stone is down, slide one of yours along a line to the next empty point. A side that cannot move loses.

  4. 04

    Fly

Down to three stones, yours may fly to any empty point. Down to two, the game is lost.

30 moves each with nothing taken, or the same position three times, and it is a draw.

Who sits across

Two ways to play

  1. Online duels

Someone near your rating, a minute a turn. Duels against people move your rating; a game left early moves nothing.

  2. Friends

Add a friend by their code, write to them, and challenge them to a duel with nothing at stake. A friend new to the game who enters your code in their first 7 days brings you each 1,000 coins.

Something to come back for

Seasons

Each calendar month is a season of 30 tiers. Wins, the arenas, the Cup and missions bring season points; every 100 opens a tier with coins, and three tiers hold a stone set, a frame and a board the shop does not sell.

  • Ash & EmberSeason tier 10

Rating

Duels against people move an Elo rating, and the standings list everyone who has played one. Two players who meet often move each other’s rating only three times a day.

Daily reward and missions

A reward each day, from 250 to 2,500 coins over 7 days; miss one and the calendar starts again. Three missions a day, from an easy one to a hard one.

Questions

Asked before you install

Is Morris Clash free?

Yes. Ads come at the breaks between games, never during one, and the videos that pay coins play only when you choose them. “No ads”, a monthly subscription, removes the ads between games. Coin packs are sold in the app for the dearer arenas and the shop.

Can money win a game?

No. Nothing sold changes how a game is played. Online games are refereed on our server: every move is checked against the rules there, and only the server writes coins and rating.

Do I need an account?

No. You start as a guest and play at once. To keep your coins and games on another phone, make the guest an account with Apple on an iPhone, with Google, or with an e-mail address.

Does it work offline?

No. Every game is refereed on our server as it is played, so the game needs a connection.

Who plays when nobody is online?

In an arena, if no one is free within a few seconds, a computer player takes the seat and plays at that arena’s level. Duels with friends and the Cup’s knockout rounds are always between people.

Which languages does it speak?

English and Romanian. It follows the phone’s language, and Settings changes it.

What is Nine Men’s Morris?

A board game for two, played on three squares joined at the middle of their sides. Each side has nine stones and makes lines of three; each line takes a stone of the other side. In Romanian it is Moara, the mill.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete the account. Without the app, write to us.

Start with 1,000 coins

Enough for 20 games at the Mill, where the stake is 50. In the Throne Room it is 70,000.

Coming free to the App Store and Google Play.
